CONTENT OF THE PROGRAMME

This programme includes both general and current issues about the business administration and by providing students with the theoretical background together with the applications on business administration, it enables the students to comply with the developing and changing conditions of the business world and take a substantial step towards their career. Within this context, the students are provided with courses they select from the fields of human resources, accounting, financing, financial management, marketing management, organization and management.Course contents such e-books and digital materials will be selected from global distinguished publishers such as McGraw-Hill, Pearson and Wiley. Content access is included in the tuition fee.

In order to graduate from the programme composed of 3 semesters, the students are required to take 11 courses (30 credits, 90 ECTS). Below is the list of courses planned to be included in the programme:

The required score is 70 (CC) in order to be successful in a course.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE PROGRAMME

The students who have succeeded in their credit courses and completion projects and acquired minimum 2,75 CGPA are eligible to receive diplomas.

DIPLOMA

When the students complete distance education master programme successfully, they become eligible to receive master diploma of Atılım University which is recognized nationally and internationally and approved by YÖK.

PROCEDURES OF MILITARY SERVICE

After registration our university informs the related legal institutions on military service postponement of the student. AppendixC2 Document is sent to the recruiting office of the student by the university.

REQUIRED COURSES

MBAE 501 – Contemporary Management

The course is designed to give information to students about a business foundation in both the practical and theoretical aspects of an organization and management science, economics, accounting, finance, marketing, international business and economics, and other functional areas of business management.

MBAE 505 – Organization Theory

To put forward basic issues and perspectives in Organizational theory and Management in a comprehensive manner, to evaluate the development of management science in the context of change and to provide management techniques and skills for business life.

MBAE 507 – Accounting

To record the financial transactions realized in business firms in ledgers properly according to the unified accounting system

The students who succeeded in this course;

  • To realize the relationship between debt and credit forming double-sided recording system of accounting
  • To hold an insight into mechanism of the accounts in the account plans and featured transactions

In the course of general accounting, recording of the accounts within basic terms of accounting and inified accounting system by analysing the balance sheet and the income statement of a firm and preparing basic financial statements that measure the financial position of a firm are covered.

MBAE 502 – Financial Management

Financial management course focuses on making optimal decisions on the main issues of finance namely investments, capital structure and working capital management. This course will guide the financial managers in firm value maximization. The questions of the three important questions is answered in this course: In what long -lived assets should the firm invest, how can the firm raise cash for required capital expenditure and how should short term operating cash flows be managed?

Time value of Money, financial cash flow, bond valuation, stock valuation, capital budgeting, capital expenditures, capital structure decisions, cost of capital, working capital management are the main subjects that are held in this course.

MBAE 504 – Operations Management

Operations Management provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the operations management profession. The course includes important topics such as Demand Forecasting, Project Management, Quality management, Supply chain management, planning and scheduling, and inventory management, materials resource planning (MRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP). Contemporary techniques  such as lean production, Just-inTime production, six-sigma, project management are also covered in the context of this course.

MBAE 506 – Financial Statement Analysis

Bu dersin amacı, bilanço ve gelir tablosu gibi temel finansal tabloları tanıtmak, bu tablolar üzerinden hesaplamalar yapmaktır. Bu hesaplamalar bağlamında finansal tablo analiz yöntemleri kullanılacak ve bu tabloları yorumlayabilmek adına gerekli olan oranlar öğrencilere öğretilecektir.
Bilanço ve gelir tablosu, nakit akım tablosu, öz sermaye değişim tablosu gibi tablolar bu ders içeriğinde kullanılacak ve dikey analiz, trend analizi ve oran analizi yapılacaktır. Konsolide finansal tablolar, finansal tablo analiz yöntemleri (oran analizi), karşılaştırmalı finansal tablo analizi ve enflasyonun finansal tablolar üzerindeki etkisi ders kapsamında incelenecek diğer konular arasındadır.

MBAE 508 – Marketing Management

The main purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the marketing of the goods and services in a competitive global economy. The student will acquire a conceptual base for understanding the role of marketing in a business environment. Upon completion of this course students will be able to learn basic marketing concepts, familiarize with the central decision variables of marketing (“the 4 P’s”), learn the historical development of marketing philosophy, the principles of consumer behavior, marketing environment, targeting and target market strategies, marketing research, organizational marketing, services marketing, international marketing and direct marketing.

In the context of this course basic marketing concepts, evolution of marketing philosophy, marketing environment, targeting and target market strategies, buyer behavior, organizational/industrial marketing, marketing research, services marketing, international marketing and direct marketing topics will be discussed.

MBAE 511 – Human Resources Management

To determine the importance of HRM in organizations, to introduce students to the applications of HR in organizations.

MBAE 513 – Research Methods

The objective of this course is to acquaint students with quantitative research methods, to develop competencies in evaluation of research need and to develop competencies in identification of research problem and development of hypothesis, data collection and analysis based on hypothetical-deductive method.

MBAE 598 – Term Project

At minimum, this course aims to earn the student the ability to apply the knowledge acquired and to present a written report which holds a prospect of solving or developing alternative suggestions to present problems.

OPTIONAL COURSES

MBAE 515 – Financial Markets and Institutions

The aim of this course is to give the students a full understanding of financial markets and institutions. The course is designed with an interdisciplinary perspective, carrying shades of economics, econometrics and related subjects. Endowed with the basic concepts and theories, the students will gain the ability to interpret the events unfolding at the national and international level.

The course covers such topics as What Do Interest Rates Mean and Why Do They Change?; Are Financial Markets Efficient?; Why Do Financial Institutions Exist?; Central Banks and Conduct of Monetary Policy: Tools, Goals, Strategy, and Tactics; The Money Markets, the Bond Market, the Stock Market and The Foreign Exchange Market; and The International Financial System, Financial Regulation and Banking Industry.

MBAE 503 – Economic Theory

The principal objective of MBAE 203 is to introduce students the essentials of both micro and macroeconomics. This course focuses on development of basic theory of demand, supply, and market price and explores applications of selected microeconomic problems, such as basic monopoly and competition, and other issues that relate to the role of the pricing system in resource allocation and income distribution. Also in this course we will learn the introductory concepts in macroeconomics such as national income and output, aggregate expenditure, equilibrium etc.

In the assessment done after the applications the first 50 students fulfilling the requirements of admission will have the right to register as main ones, while the second 50 students will register as substitutes. The list of the main and substitute students will be announced on our website.

The main applicants will be provided with a period of time for registration. If there are any vacancies after main students’ registration, the vacancies will be filled on a first come, first served basis among all applicants.

COURSE SELECTION

Registered students select their courses via Student Information System (SIS) of the University. Course selection process is finalized following the approval of the academic advisors.

COURSE CONTENT

There exist course syllabus, presentations, Word documents, visual material, videos, external links related to the topic, online exams in content pages of each course. It is possible to access to the Moodle pages of the courses over internet for 24 hours.

You can access to your registered courses by logging in Course Management System (MOODLE). You can find your registered courses at My Courses Menu tab.

ONLINE COURSES

At least one hour online course is prepared for every week for all courses. Planned online courses are broadcasted in the Moodle page of the course on scheduled time. During online course hour, lecturer gets online by clicking the course link. Lecturer gets connected to the course online through web camera. During online courses, you can contact with your lecturer through voice message, camera and chat, and direct your questions. You must have required hardware and internet connection to attend online courses. It is mandatory to attend online courses.

If online courses cannot be held due to an excuse of the lecturer or due to technical problems, make-up courses are scheduled and announced at Course Management System.

Online courses are always recorded and it is possible to access to recorded online courses on Moodle page of the course from “Online Course Recordings” link.

In distance education programmes, final grading is calculated as follows based on 100 points:

Midterm exam’s contribution to final score    :  %20
Homeworks’ and projects’ contribution     :  %15
Final exam’s contribution to final score    :  %65

MIDTERM EXAMS

Midterm exams consisting of multiple choice questions are held online. You must take midterm exams by logging in Moodle page of the course on dates announced in the academic calendar. Results of the midterm exams are announced online at Student Information System.

ASSIGNMENTS AND PROJECTS

Assignments and projects are assigned online by lecturers at Learning Management System. Assignments and projects are submitted at Learning Management System within the specified time. Assignments and projects are assessed and graded online by lecturers. Results are announced at Learning Management System when assessment process in completed.

FINAL EXAMS

Final exams are held Sundays between 12:00-17:00 on dates announced in the academic calendar in the classes in the campus. Final exams are composed of multiple choice questions. After evaluations, final grades are announced at Learning Management System.

EXCUSE EXAMINATION

Students who could not take an exam due to any reason which is accepted as valid and justified by Graduate School of Social Sciences Department of Management Graduate can sit for excuse examination.

GRADING

At the end of each term, grades (MidtermExam20%+Homeworks15%+FinalExam65%) are calculated by Coordination for Distance Education and submitted to lecturers.

Important Note: Coordination for Distance Education shall not announce end-of-term grades under no circumstance.

 Students are granted with the grades below by lecturers taking into account midterm exam, final exam and assignment or projects, attendance as well as studies carried out throughout the term.

Lecturers finalize the grades of students by entering them Student Information System (SIS). Students can learn their grades from Student Information System after the grades have been finalized and announced by Registrar’s Office within the specified date on academic calendar.

Total tuition fee covers 3 semesters for non-thesis programs.  Students who can not complete the program during this period pay 20% of the program fee for each subsequent term. Students who complete the curriculum before the end of the program and who are entitled to an exemption from some classes pay the full amount of the program fee.

You don’t have to pay extra fee for resources such as books, other materials, etc. throughout your study. You can access to course content at Learning Management System as long as you are registered to the programme.
